The Rules of Gaming in the Hands of Business Leaders
Simon Sinek as an invited speaker at the SAS Global forum event said that business leaders should be playing with the rules of the infinite game. A very interesting point of view indeed, which basically suggests that finite games confine leaders and businesses in outweighing competition, whereas, thinking freely with a focus on outweighing your own performance, can lead to better results. in a “parallel” universe during an academic dialogue, researchers were debating on the topic of business productivity and presented research findings that suggest that technology alone and digital transformation strategies cannot act as the true enablers of a company’s competitive position.
Having attended both dialogues, my thoughts are that business leaders should not only focus on results and performance but engage more in a meaningful relationship with people, both as customers and as employees. This way technology and innovation can both work at the benefit of the business in inspiring creativity and novelty.
The rules of the game are in the hands of leaders, and with the right attitude and mindset, even losses in business games can be considered as wins.
