Return to Normalcy

I wish that it were so easy that we all listen to an instruction, or an inspiring quote and be motivated and energized enough to follow and implement. During the last days of the pandemic, I came across inspiring quotes and webinars, which were indeed very helpful, but only to a very small percentage of the people attending, given the uniqueness and the complexity of the individuality.

I wish it were that easy that we all follow rules such as “Think positive”, “Relax”, “Be innovative”, or even “Learn to overcome the crisis”. If there is such a switch in the human brain and if motivation were that easy, I would love to know.

I am a true advocate though, of the belief that every system maintains its own uniqueness, and I find it almost impossible to follow prescriptions and one-size-fits-all solutions in the transition to normalcy. Even biomedicine cannot guarantee a single cure for the new disease and science still treats every case as a unique system.

Therefore, businesses and leaders who will go back to “business as usual”, in my opinion, need to understand that to begin with nothing is “as usual” and that each system will follow its own rules and dynamics in finding its new place on the spectrum of normality.
